What to teach and remember

  • The key word in Revelation is “Revelation” — the unveiling of Jesus Christ. Chapters 2–3 send messages to seven churches and give a picture of church history.
  • Before Jesus returns: deception (false Christs and date-setters), wars and rumors of wars, natural disasters that shake politics, a church that grows cold and compromises (not stronger in evangelism), sin treated as normal, exploding knowledge, Jews returning, Israel re-established with Jerusalem as capital, and accelerating apostasy.
  • At the Rapture, Christ appears in the air with a shout and trumpet; the church is caught up; the living are transformed into Christ’s likeness; the dead in Christ rise; God’s restraint against sin is removed; those left behind believe a lie.
  • After the Rapture, all believers will see the throne and God — a settled hope for the church caught up.
  • The World Ruler launches a “substitute church” with signs and wonders (including a counterfeit resurrection), forms an unholy trinity with Satan and the False Prophet, demands a mark, and the Anti-Christ makes a covenant with Israel.
  • The Great Tribulation is not three and a half weeks. The Millennium is a thousand years of Christ’s reign on earth.
  • In the fourth (future) Heaven there will be no more temple, sun, tears, death, or night — God Himself is the light and the dwelling.

What will the world be like right before Jesus returns?

Right before Jesus returns, deception will increase as false Christs and date-setters arise. Wars and rumors of wars and their stressful problems will intensify, and natural disasters will affect political stability. The New Testament church will grow cold to spiritual things, compromise its moral belief, and become less effective in influencing cultures. People will become accustomed to sin, knowledge will explode, Jews will return to Palestine, Israel will be re-established as a nation, Jerusalem will again be the capital of Israel, and apostasy will accelerate. It is a gathering storm: we cannot say when, but we know it is coming.

What will happen at the moment of the Rapture?

At the Rapture, Jesus Christ will appear in the air with a shout and the sound of a trumpet, and the church will be caught up. Saved people will be transformed into the likeness of Jesus Christ, and Christians who died in the church age will be resurrected. God will remove His restraining influence against sin, and those remaining behind will be deceived so that they believe a lie.

After the Rapture, how will the World Ruler launch his "Substitute Church?"

The World Ruler will launch a substitute church through signs and wonders that mimic Jesus Christ, especially a counterfeit resurrection. He will operate as part of an unholy trinity with Satan and the False Prophet, demand an outward mark, and lead people to worship him. With persuasive and blasphemous speech and satanic power, he will rally the world against the saints and reorganize the natural forces of the ancient Roman Empire through demonic influence.
